Season Start Up

There are many jobs which need to be undertaken during the months of March and April other than preparing the green.

The beds and flower boxes need weeding and planting up, the ditches need to be cleaned so the ditch sides and the patio and paving surround can be power washed.

Here we see Norman doing the ditch sides. The sides and patio can take quite a few days to get cleaned up.

After all that power washing, the paving stones might well need repointing. Here we see Barrie and Jeanie doing the task in 2021.

The river end of the green has a board by the hedge which needs re-painting along with the fencing by the patio. Here we see Peter Bonar carrying out the task.

Other painting tasks Peter often carries out are cleaning and re-painting the benches.

The edges to the green’s surround have decking planks which need staining and here we see Steve & Angie Isaac doing the job on a chilly April day.

The rink markers need their fixings checked and their colours painted. The 2m sticks and the little red and white blocks might need a new coat of paint as well.
