Saturday Spoons

Following a suggestion from Peter Borsberry, the Club held its second Spoon Drive in this “crazy” season on Saturday 5th Sept at 2pm.

The weather was kind to us, lovely when the sun was out but a touch chilly when cloudy.

Again the teams included as many of our new members as were available and because we weren’t restricted by failing light, which happens on Friday evenings, each team played 4 rather than 3 games.

The teams were as follows:

1 - Barbara Carr & Barrie Davies

2 - Brian Duddy & Angie Isaac

3 - Trish Jones & Gill Robins

4 - Theresa Dombey & Frank Powell

5 - David Maybury & Colin Ward

6 - Lynn Sayer & Andy Scott

7 - Maurice Robins & Steve Isaac

8 - Jeanie Davies & Peter Watkins

Initially, Captain Andy declared the winners as himself and Lynn but after a check of his numbers this was changed to Trish & Gill. That evening, Kevin captured all the relevant scores for posting on the web site and discovered even this result was wrong.

The winners of Spoons on 5th September were Theresa & Frank. Congratulations to them.

The mistake arose because Frank, who doesn’t usually play Spoons, put the team scores for game 4 in the wrong column which wasn’t obvious until the detailed data was captured.

The Spoon Drive league table will be updated on the web site but as it will be based on so few games please don’t take it too seriously.
