Sandbags?

Updated: May 7, 2021

On Tuesday 7th July, Travellers arrived in Mill Meadows and parked up in the car park of the River & Rowing Museum.

Given the issues reported in the Henley Standard about Travellers parking up in Goring a few weeks ago, there was some concern that Mill Meadows and the Club might suffer.

However, the Town Council acted quickly and the police and enforcement agencies managed to move them on, presumably because they had parked up on private land.

To try and protect further visits in Mill Meadows, the Council placed large Sandbags in and around various access points including the main entrance into the car park.

So if you go to the Club whilst these measures are in place you will need to manoeuvre between the two bags blocking the road.

The Travellers were first moved to the Station car park and were last reported parked up at Shiplake’s Memorial Ground which is where the Shiplake Bowls Club is. We hope they escape any damage as we did.
