On 2nd June, Bowls England updated their guidance with respect to playing bowls under Covid-19 restrictions to allow Pairs. Indeed, under government rules, even Triples would be allowed. However, that would mean 4 bowlers at one end of a rink which makes social distancing really quite difficult. As a result, the Club hasn't implemented this option although may consider it if there is a demand from members.
A number of our players have now played Pairs and found it easy to social distance although "pushers" have been introduced because that helps social distancing. Moving 12 or 16 bowls back with the feet is quite tiring and it's been found that it social distancing becomes difficult to maintain.
The other change is that Spectators are now allowed. As well as our members coming down to watch the play, members of the public are welcomed as there are plenty of benches which are well spaced out.
