We finally had a winter season social event in these days of Covid.
Starting at 9:00am Monday 3rd January, 20+ of us met up at the Club to go for our usual New Year's Walk. Sally and Norman had set up the tables and chairs outside and masks were worn indoors for those who wanted a cup of tea or coffee. Sally dished up her lovely bacon rolls and just after 10:00am, Norman led us out of the double gates on a local walk. Route shown below.

Although he had planned a couple of other routes, recent rain had made them pretty unpleasant so although this was a walk he thought we had done before, we did it the other way round. Across the bridge, past the Leander club and down the towpath to Hambleden lock at Mill End. A short distance after the lock, we turned right up Ferry Lane, past the Flower Pot and then part way up Aston Lane we turned right to loop round back to the bridge. Norman thought it was a 5 mile walk but it turned out to be 5.9 miles so some would have certainly felt the aches and pains a day or so later.
On our return, Sally greeted us with turkey or vegetable soup with bread rolls and then followed this with appropriately festive mince pies, apple pies, stollen nibbles and other such delicacies. A big thank you to Sally for doing most of the food but also to Gill Robins who provided the vegetable soup. Thanks to everyone who helped on the day either helping serve or tidying away, much appreciated by all. Below are a couple of photos of us all on the patio, we were lucky it wasn't too cold and it didn't rain.
