Mixed Triples Club Day

A big thank you to the 18 of you who joined in the Mixed Triples competition on Saturday 31st August to compete for the Reg Smith Trophy (winners) and the Lewendon Bowl (runners'-up). Also thanks to Sally for the hot cross buns, Angelika for setting up the tea and coffee point and Andy and others for running the bar. A special thanks is owed to Jenny who volunteered to step down and be a reserve to make the numbers work.

The competition was organised into 6 teams with each team playing every other team. So there were 5 games of 8 ends each which proved tiring for some so maybe next year we will try and stick to 4 games a team because I think everyone agreed that 8 ends allows you to get into the game more than 6 ends. With no trial ends, each game took an hour (well most did) and with only a short break because of the rain, the day started at 10:00am and ended at 6:00pm.

As can be seen from the league table shown below, the result was:

Reg Smith Trophy winners - Angelika Crisa (lead), John Cross, Barrie Davies(skip)

Lewendon Bowl runners'-up - David Maybury (lead), Jeanie Davies, Colin Ward (skip)

Its a funny old game, the winners only lost one game and that was to Team D who only won that one game!
